Powerlaw

Most things in life happen slowly and then suddenly; the effect of power laws.

They seem linear, at first, from the outside, but from the tipping point forward, they're exploding exponentially.

It's not a complex function, but it rather seems linear at first, as the compounding happens through the filter of variance, which doesn't expose the pure function but only its results, skewed through randomness to the outside.

Be prepared to look for power laws everywhere and only if you can rule them out, assume normal distributions. Anything less is lethal.

Spending ten minutes writing a function and then fixing it for the rest of your life is worse than spending two hours to do it properly.

Spending a hundred hours writing a book and then keeping busy promoting your book till eternity pales in comparison to spending one thousand hours writing it and then letting your readers sell the book for you.
